A five-minute read

Despite residing in northern Michigan for most of my childhood, I’ve never acclimated to the frosty winters. I’d stand in front of the fireplace until my mom instructed me to get ready for school. It gets old when you’re standing in knee deep snow, waiting for the bus every morning.

I vowed that one day, I’d move somewhere warm! While I don’t necessarily welcome Oklahoma’s summer heat waves, their mild winters are for me! We usually average around the fifties which sure beats below-zero weather.

So, when an arctic blast hit our state in January, I wasn’t enjoying it at all.

Fortunately, on the second weekend with temps in the teens, Robert and I got away to plan and pray. We decided we’d do better if we weren’t at home, distracted by the pesky to-do lists visible in every corner of our house.

Our getaway was what the doctor ordered. We rested, prayed, and planned as we got clarity about some major decisions. (I’m excited to share later when events unfold!)

And since our rental was near Grand Lake, we had a beautiful view of the dam, the lake, and a river. Every day, I’d watch bald eagles and hawks soar gracefully near our window, marveling at their majestic flight across the sky. And I’d observe the slew of seagulls, gathering near the dam, fishing for food. Nature is entertaining.

Below is a pic of the lake and the dam from our Airbnb.

Love at the Mayo Update

Several readers have asked me when Love at the Mayo, the sequel to Christmas at Sonshine Barn, is coming out. I have great news! I’m over two-thirds through prepping the draft to send to the editor. LATM is much longer than Book 1, but I have many plot points running throughout. Of course, one plot arc is how the bracelet finds its way back to Garrett.

Although I initially didn’t include the bracelet in the first draft of LATM, I added it after I wrote CASB. The best part, the tale of the stolen heirloom fits perfectly in LATM’s story arc.
