Join the Sonshine Barn Team!
With Christmas at Sonshine Barn in the developmental editor’s desk, I’m working on the marketing plan for a late fall release. I’m like a kid discovering a new sport as I’m learning how to launch a book, but a little unsure how it’ll all play out. I’m praying for guidance, wisdom, and peace. Have you experienced this mixed bag feeling lately?
An important step in my marketing endeavor is to recruit teams. Since this community has followed my writing journey, I’m asking for your help. So, if you’d like to help promote the Christmas novella, I have three levels of engagement:
- Launch Team: Help me launch the book. Read an Advanced Reader Copy, share on social media, and promote the book on your website or other mediums you are on.
- ARC Review Team: if you’re not ready to commit to a launch team but want to help, this option might be for you. I’ll provide an advanced reader copy before its release to give you time to read it and provide a review. If you join the team, I’ll give more details about providing a verified review.
- Prayer Team: On a private Facebook page, I’ll share one prayer request a week (on Mondays) about this launch. AND if you share a request, I’ll pray for you as well.
If you’re unsure of these teams and want more info, please email me your questions. Thanks!
The Winner Is…
Thanks everyone for voting for the best author headshot. This pic won by a landslide! Actually, the white will match the winter wonderland my protagonist experiences in Christmas at Sonshine Barn– the novella where I’ll feature this head shot. (Photo Courtesy Mike Tedford Photography.)

Worth Every Penny:
Short Story I wrote for a friend’s newsletter:
My protagonist, Garrett, strikes again! For April, I’m the Featured Author for my Lady Lit’s group, so I provided content for their newsletter. One writer has an interactive theme for her subscribers.
So, based on their feedback, I came up with a short story called “Worth Every Penny”. And it features Garrett Bettencourt, the main protagonist in Christmas at Sonshine Barn and Rescue in Amalfi.
In the story, Garrett “interviews” my friend’s actual subscriber for a job. And their interaction not only endears Garrett to her, but helps him heal from guilt and shame he’s carrying from a traumatic event that occurs in Christmas at Sonshine Barn.
SPOILER ALERT. (If you don’t want to read any spoilers for the upcoming Christmas novella, I recommend you not read the short story. Although the interview isn’t in the book, the story alludes to a significant event that occurs in the novella.)
